The Story of Gabby’s Wish

Gabby, married wealthy and traveled the world losing touch with her family.  Now in her 50’s, she finds herself widowed and dying of cancer. With no children of her own she sets her mind on reacquainting with her family to find the proper heir to her estate. With the help of her trusted personal assistant Manning, she invites them all for a three day weekend at her estate to conduct interviews with each one and catch up on the lost years. Among her adult nieces and nephews are her older brother Casey, a blue collar business owner and proud of his sons from Ralph, an auto mechanic like his father, Henry serving in Afghanistan, to Gary who wants to be a doctor. 

Also along for the weekend are Gabby’s two sisters who could not  be more polar opposites. Angela is a self righteous bible thumper, who has never let go of her resentment of her younger beautiful sister Elle. Elle is divorced and still carries a broken heart over her cheating husband and wraps her life around her 19 year son, Parker who is a pretty fun laid back young man, that is
until he finds himself witnessing his lonely mother’s flirtation with a younger man who is a tag along with his cousin Gary.

Gabby now surrounded by her estranged family, who also has lost touch with each other,
becomes the eye of an unsettled storm. 
The three day weekend spawns loud ridiculous arguments over who should
inherit her wealth and the increasing tension in emotionally complex Angela as
she struggles with forgiving Elle and her lack of acceptance towards a daughter
she disowned. Poi is withdrawn from her overbearing mother and
her sister, Josephine. The daughters are opposites with Josephine who much like
her mother lacks understanding towards Poi due to her being what they deem as an
ungodly lesbian. To make matter worse Poi has brought her life-partner, Anne
along for the ride. 

While  Gabby holds interviews with each of them to learn about the lost years in the privacy
of her home office, Manning finds himself in the awkward position of dealing
with the rest of the family as they fight unresolved issues. To make matter
worse is Heather, Gary’s money hungry and self-proclaimed fiancée adding to the
controversy. “Gabby’s Wish” is a character driven
story with a true life sense of humor that is both funny and touching. As the
people they are today unfold before her who will she choose?
